Solo Entrepreneur - Perfectionist Gene Redo!

As you'll notice, I haven't posted for a month and before you get 'caught-up' in the trap I fell into, here's what happened.

It started simply enough - setup a subscription site for entrepreneurs in a specific niche. That's it, not a real problem because the research was solid, all the information was readily available and the back end was complete.

Yeah, right. Leave it to Georjina to complicate matters! It went from an auto-responder based subscription to a 'Where is this going again?' hosting account, graphic designer, Wordpress install mess! My perfectionist gene went into over-drive.

How does knowing the can of worms I eventually chunked to start over help you?
Sometimes we all get excited about a new project, think it through and then mess it up when our perfectionist gene gets loose.

Get “Hard-Nosed” (especially when that perfectionist gene kicks in) with people trying to sell you on how great a particular tactic will be for your business.

Unless you have it built into your plan and it gets you to your goal - Pass.

When you are working on a project, planning a presentation for a client or beginning a marketing campaign to get new clients stop and ask yourself: Is this going to get me closer to my initial goal and is it part of the plan?

Guaranteed, you are going to find dozens of ways to make it better and will want to tweak it to death so it's perfect right out the gate! Having a plan of steps before you dive in helps you stay focused. It will also prevent your perfectionist gene doing an end run on your goals.

My solution for the subscription site? Start Over and Stick To The Plan!
If you hate 'do overs', take this short post to heart because once you are in motion, distractions will come in ways you can't imagine.

For those of you new to Solo Gazette, yes I also have a full-time gig that isn't internet based. Makes for an interesting life.

That's it for today and I leave you with this
